Music has value. It costs and means something to the Producers and Performers who make a composition come to life through an audio recording. Music adds value as well to the various public places, shops, hospitality and entertainment venues, radio stations, television programs that play it. If you were involved in the recording of the song as a lead performer, singer, session musician, or invested financially to produce it, you are entitled to earn from its playback.
