PRM's MP3 2026: A Music-for-Business Workshop for Collaborative Growth

QUEZON CITY, PHILIPPINES — Philippine Recorded Music Rights Inc. (PRM) held the second iteration of its music-for-business workshop series named MP3 2026: Music Promotion, Protection, and Partnership at the grand ballroom of B Hotel, Sct. Rallos, Quezon City. The event was held on March 12, 2026, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
The workshop aims to educate music users on the importance of music in their day-to-day operations, and how PRM could help businesses take full advantage of its benefits.

Universal Music Group Managing Director and PRM Board of Trustees member Enzo Valdez opened the ceremony with his welcome remarks. To set the tone of the event, Enzo emphasized how much space music occupies in the Philippines.
Althea Mendoza, Fifty5Blue's Head of Client Service.
Althea Mendoza of Fifty5Blue (previously known as Kantar Media) opened with Radio Listening Trends. Through this, Althea laid out the foundation of the following discussions. Her talk illustrates when and where music is played in the Philippines, painting a clear picture of how the landscape of music usage changed since the 2020 pandemic. Althea made it clear that radio is still an important player in music use, as it still accounts for a significant amount of how music reaches audiences.
Attorney Exequiel "Chuck" Valerio, IPOPHL-BCRR’s Assistant Chief of the Accreditation and Standards Division.
Attorney Exequiel “Chuck” Valerio of the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines - Bureau of Copyright and Related Rights discussed the legalities of playing music in a public setting. Atty. Chuck’s talk Play it Safe! License your Music or Pay the Price clarified the legal framework protecting intellectual property, common misconceptions with public use of music, and how to access a wide repertoire of local and international music through collaborating with PRM.
Mike Constantino, CEO of Homonym.
Mike Constantino from Homonym delved into the application of senses in marketing. In his talk The Sound of the Store, Music That Moves Customers explained the use of music and curating playlists and how it affects customer behavior, sharing strategies Homonym does to cater to specific target markets. He demonstrated how bridging brand with the right music in practical setting benefits business, presenting a case study where music was a primary reason for changing customer behavior.
Candice Lima-del Rosario, Assistant Licensing Manager.
Assistant Licensing Manager Candice Lima-del Rosario from PRM, discussed the global perspective on music licensing. Candice brought the discussion from the global sphere to the Philippines, also touching on the links between music, licensing, and business. She also clarified the role PRM has inside and beyond the music industry, where PRM works to ensure artists are given credit for their work through licensing, collaborating with music users to further both parties.

After a roundtable discussion and awarding of certificates with all the speakers, Keeshia Mangio, PRM’s Marketing Manager ended the workshop with her closing remarks. Keeshia reaffirmed PRM’s desire to bridge the music industry to the industries that use music, citing MP3’s purpose to bring music users and the music industry together to collaborate and grow.

Of course, the day wouldn’t be complete without the celebration of local artists. Indie artist Mimi Bué performed a mix of original songs and covers. Tiara Shaye ended the day with her songs, including her Himig Handog 2025 winning piece Wag Paglaruan. Organisasyon ng Pilipinong Mang-aawit (OPM) member DIONE hosted the entire event, bringing artists in conversation with industries other than music.
MP3 2026 provided a venue to connect the music industry to people and organizations that use their work. Illustrating the power of music in practical settings and how it benefits both the music industry and music users, the event advocates for proper compensation for artists and legal protection for users ensuring mutual benefit.
