The media launch started with welcoming remarks from Atty. Claire Cabochan, Deputy Director General of IPOPHL followed by their Director General, Atty. Rowel Barba. These opening prefaces set the mood and tone for the rest of the media conference wherein partners and media friends alike were engaged and participative throughout the event. Atty. Emerson Cuyo gave the attendees a run-down of PICS last year and how they differ from this year due to the face-to-face nature of the event. He also discussed how the preparations for the week-long event were going and the help needed from IPOPHL’s partner organizations and CMOs. Lastly, before the floor was opened for media to ask questions, IPOPHL’s partners and CMOs, including PRM, shared commitments and sentiments of support, not only for PICS but for IPOPHL as an institution. Star Music Head and President of Philippines Association of the Record Industry, and PRM Producer Member, Atty. Marivic Benedicto shared her sentiments and gratitude towards IPOPHL, and copyright law and enforcement in the Philippines. Atty. Ricardo Blancaflor, PRM Chairman, highlighted the recently concluded royalty distribution event “PRM R.E.D. Party 2024”. This event signified the fulfillment of PRM’s role as a CMO, distributing royalties to performers and producers to give credit to where it is due. He emphasized the impact of the music especially during the pandemic as he referred to music as “food for the soul, and food for the heart.”

PRM, as a collaborative partner of IPOPHL, shares mutual interest in the protection of Intellectual Property. We will continue to support the collective effort of IPOPHIL and other music stakeholders as we aspire to create a harmonious future for the music industry.
