More Preparations Ensue: PRM Holds a Special Board Meeting

ree

Last May 14, at the B Hotel in Quezon City, various and pertinent stakeholders of Philippines Recorded Music Rights Inc. (PRM) gathered for a special board discussion. Amongst the attendees were board members: Atty. Ricardo Blancaflor, PRM’s Chairman; Enzo Valdez, Managing Director of Universal Music Group Philippines; Sarah Ismail, Managing Director of Warner Music Philippines; Jesmon Chua, Managing Director of PolyEast Records; and Josh Buizon, Over October’s vocalist.

The board meeting, spearheaded by PRM’s Acting General Manager and Head of Licensing Francis Buen, allowed for a rundown of business updates and key deliverables for the coming months. Alongside such, board members were given the opportunity to raise concerns observed from their respective day-to-day operations that PRM may assist with. With its commitment to growing intellectual property awareness and the music industry itself, the team has taken note of potential steps to take in addressing the challenges its members face.

Taking the lion’s share of the discussion is the annual distribution preparations. In line with its unfailing dedication to giving credit where it is due, the organization takes careful and calculated steps to align with its major stakeholders in ensuring that they are properly valued during this distribution period. R.E.D. (Royalty, Engagement, Distribution) Party 2025, the culmination of PRM’s distribution, is expected to be bigger and brighter this year—a lot in store, indeed, for the artists populating people’s playlists.

The day closed on a note of collaboration, with the board agreeing to more frequent check-ins and public updates to ensure accountability and to keep pace with the evolving needs of the music industry. As a licensing body, PRM calls on all stakeholders — from business owners to artists — to build a culture that respects intellectual property and nurtures artistic growth.

Get ready for another unforgettable night—stay tuned for this year’s exhilarating R.E.D. Party!
