This November 21, 2024, from 1 to 4 p.m., at The B Hotel, Sct. Rallos, Philippines Recorded Music Rights, Inc. (PRM) will hold its first private music for business workshop, entitled “MP3 2024: Music Protection, Promotion, Partnership”. The event, co-presented by the Bureau of Copyright and Related Rights of the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL), will feature different key opinion leaders that would provide valuable insights and knowledge on the subject matter at hand.

The event will tackle various music for business topics, divided into five key segments. First will be the talk about media trends and the music-listening habits of consumers. Second will tackle sonic branding and how businesses can use music to promote themselves and forge their brand and identity. Third will delve into the importance of music for one’s business and how music selection affects the flow of customers. For the fourth, IPOPHL’s representative, an industry expert on intellectual property (IP), will go in-depth into IP rights in music, particularly how establishments can help defend the IP rights of producers and performers of copyrighted sound recordings. PRM’s Head of Licensing, Francis Buen, for the fifth segment, will then dive deep into the blueprint of music for business. True to the spirit of music being at the core of the event, the workshop will not be limited to just talks and lectures, as there will be musical performances to keep the atmosphere lively and add a performer’s perspective to the discussion.

PRM and IPOPHL’s MP3 event will be an excellent opportunity for attendees to engage in insightful discussions, grow their network, learn about media trends, and improve their sonic branding, which can benefit the continued development of their businesses. In addition, the event will continue the fight to protect the intellectual property rights of those in the music industry, making sure they properly receive the credit they’re due.
