On May 28, 2025, Gab Cabangon, Executive Director of Organisasyon ng mga Pilipinong Mang-Aawit (OPM), visited Philippines Recorded Music Rights Inc.’s (PRM) headquarters to discuss a potential partnership between PRM and OPM in the annual Linggo ng Musikang Pilipino (LMP) Celebration.
As per Proclamation No. 933, the last week of July should be dedicated to celebrating the individuals who have significantly shaped the flourishing of Original Filipino Music, as well as furnishing musicians with platforms to share their craft. Linggo ng Musikang Pilipino, regularly presented in partnership with OPM, celebrated its 10th year last 2024—a decade of Filipino musical excellence and recognition. For LMP 2025, it will boast the same series of events dispersed throughout Metro Manila, bridging musicians and supporters alike in such festivities.
PRM is honored to be part of this grand celebration. As a collective management organization representing producers and performers—crucial entities in the music we enjoy—it goes without saying that the organization will fully support LMP 2025’s activities and, overall, goals for the music industry. After all, it is imperative that we render artists and producers the rightful credit for their works, and LMP 2025 is one way to show deep appreciation for them.
Exciting times ahead for Filipino music, indeed!
