The undeniables of OPM were recognized during The 36th Awit Awards. Held last November 9 at Baked Studios, this year’s Awit Awards is a departure from your traditional awards show. This fresh take on an awards show was spearheaded by one of PRM’s trustees, Enzo Valdez. Instead of the very formal and rigid format, they made it into a party wherein artists, performers, label representatives, and other members of the OPM community were able to socialize.

While the Awit Awards this year pushed the boundaries, the hallmarks of a great award show were still there. For the major awards, they still did the traditional announcement of the nominees, and the winner got to have a speech. We had great speeches from new acts such as Dilaw who were very happy to win Song of the Year as heard from their speech that talked about their journey and how it all started from a dream. Industry veteran and winner of the Dangal ng Musikang Pilipino award Rico Blanco’s speech resonated with the artists as he shared the mantra of “Just keep pushing.”

PRM joined in the festivities as the team interviewed artists and other members of the music community about their music preferences, etc. (Follow us on our socials to see these interviews!). PRM also made sure to seize the opportunity to raise awareness about their cause of protecting the music industry. The team also provided bucket hats and flyers to further highlight PRM’s advocacy. It was indeed a great night where the music community was able to connect, socialize, and enjoy live performances from world-class musicians while recognizing Filipino talents. Stay tuned for more music news as when there is music, PRM will be there.
