MANILA, PHILIPPINES – The PRM R.E.D. Party held last July 19, 2024, at Social House Makati, was the first distribution of Philippines Recorded Music Rights. “R.E.D.” stands for Royalty, Engagement, Distribution and rightfully so as the event culminated in giving royalties to performers and producers for the collection from 2021-2022. This was also a celebration of PRM’s 3rd year anniversary as a Collective Management Organization (CMO). PRM is a non-stock, non-profit CMO that represents the rights of performers and producers over sound recorded music. The organization believes in giving credit where credit is due. So, whenever the songs of their members are being played, they ensure that they get properly compensated for the use of their art.

True to PRM’s value for art, guests were treated to a night of music and fun activities. Before entering Social House, they were first greeted with the DIY caps wherein they can design their headgear with music-themed patches and doodles. These serve as fun engagement activities with the hopes of having PRM as the top-of-mind when it comes to music CMOs. As they enter, they can take their photos at the magazine wall and the Y2K wall before the start of the program that was hosted by DJ Gayle and JC Tevez.

PRM’s very own Ryan Orias started off the night of performances followed by a media conference participated by PRM Chairman Atty. Ricardo Blancaflor, IFPI Head of Licensing for Southeast Asia, Dhanesh Jagwani, SoundsRight Chairman and Universal Records Executive Vice President, Ramon Chuaying, Performer member, hit-maker, and Warner Music artist, Arthur Miguel, and PRM Head of Licensing Francis Buen. Being an up-and-coming organization, an introduction to the public is important. This was an avenue for the media to shed light on how PRM is an essential entity in the music industry.

As the media conference ended, it was time to start the event proper, which was the meat of a busy and lively night ahead.  Performances from Arthur Miguel, JAO, Dionela, and Ace Banzuelo shook the night with their passionate and entertaining acts. Awards and prizes were also awarded to participants who won games and raffles, which again kept the energy going. More importantly, the night would not be complete without the backbone of the event which was the royalty distribution.

To start off, the Labels received royalties, followed by 3 batches of Performer royalty distribution for artists. Representatives of labels and of the performers were asked to come up on stage to receive the royalties check and have their pictures taken with the presenters to capture this momentous event for not only PRM, but for the whole of the Philippine Music Industry.

Lastly, PRM did not forget to give thanks to their partner licensees such as Philippine Airlines (PAL), H&M, KFC Phiilippines, to name a few, and partner organizations, namely  Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL), Bureau of Copyright and Related Rights (BCRR), International Federation of Phonographic Industry, and SoundsRight,  by asking them to take the stage to award them a small token of appreciation as this event would not be possible without their utmost support.

This year’s R.E.D. Party pioneered the first of many distributions for PRM as they aim to continue giving performers and producers the credit that is due to them and embody their mantra “Protecting Music Is Our Passion.”
