This past November 8, 2024, at the 123 Block in Mandaluyong, PRM witnessed a milestone event in the career of OPM legend, Ely Buendia, as he celebrated the launch of his second solo studio album, “Method Adaptor”. Presented by Offshore Music and Gabi Na Naman Productions, the event was attended by fans of all ages who wanted to celebrate the Eraserheads frontman’s first solo project in 24 years since “Wanted Bedspacer” (2000).
Before the OPM rock icon graced the stage, Offshore Music artists wowed the crowd with versatile and thrilling sets. With their retro-pop and punk-inspired style, the Aviators popped the audience with songs like their latest single “Until Then”. On the other hand, 17-year-old indie-rock artist, Ligaya Escueta, performed a set that rocked the crowd and gave major ‘coming of age’ vibes. Pinkmen gave the audience a taste of their unique rock-psychedelic and Manila-sound-inspired music and sonically took attendees on a trip into their world. ALYSON, with their fantastic uniform suits and city-pop and big-band inspired stylings brought nothing but good vibes to everyone there, and lastly, Carousel Casualties, with notable songs like “Leona” and “San Junipero”, gave the audience one last killer set before the main event of the evening.

Once it was their time to get on stage, Buendia and his band wasted no time giving the audience what they came to see, as they performed all the songs off his new album, starting with the rebellious “Sige”. Throughout the 10-song set, Buendia had the crowd in his hands, with some tracks showing his evolution over the last two decades and others proving he can still do that classic Eraserheads-reminiscent style. Songs like the psychedelic “Kandarapa” and the synth-rock heavy “Tagpi-Tagping Piraso” present soundscapes fans haven't heard from him before while tracks like “Deadbeat Creeper” and “Espirit de Corpse” show that he can still rock out like he did in the 90s. He ended his set performing the album’s first single, “Bulaklak sa Buwan”, alongside his fellow Offshore Music artists who sang the chorus with him. After the event, those with Special VIP tickets had a special meet and greet with Buendia and his bandmates, taking pictures with them and getting him to sign copies of the album and Eraserheads memorabilia.

Overall, the event was a celebration of Ely Buendia’s return to the scene and a testament to how even legends don’t stop evolving and adapting to fit in the modern-day music landscape.
