How do you measure a year? For Philippine Recorded Music Rights (PRM), 2025 was measured in milestones—live performances, meaningful partnerships, industry roadshows, and, at the heart of it all, music.
Now in its fourth year, PRM continued to champion its mission of protecting music rights by strengthening collaborations, amplifying artist voices, and advancing fair compensation across the Philippine music industry. Through independently mounted initiatives and joint ventures, 2025 marked a year of momentum, growth, and deeper industry engagement.
PERFORMANCE
2025 saw PRM take center stage through key industry-defining events—both independently and in collaboration with partners.
One of the year’s highlights was The Official Philippine Charts Launch Party, held on February 19, 2025, in partnership with the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI). Launched alongside charts from other Southeast Asian countries, the Philippine Charts showcased the most-streamed songs nationwide using data from major streaming platforms. The evening also celebrated local excellence, with BINI recognized as the country’s Top Artist.
Another major milestone was PRM’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) on September 25, 2025. The AGM welcomed new board member Francis “Brew” Reyes, reflected on key organizational milestones, and outlined PRM’s strategic direction for the years ahead.
ROADSHOWS & PARTNERSHIPS
If there was one defining theme of 2025, it was connection.
PRM strengthened relationships with organizations, record labels, and artists throughout the year—bringing its advocacies directly to stakeholders across the industry.
The organization capped April with recognition from the Gawad Yamang Isip Awards, affirming PRM’s continued commitment to protecting intellectual property rights.
New partnerships were also forged, including a collaboration with the Organisasyon ng mga Pilipinong Mang-aawit (OPM), led by Gab Cabangon. This partnership ensures that more performers are informed about—and benefit from—PRM’s initiatives, reinforcing PRM’s openness to future collaborations for the welfare of artists and record labels alike.
Longstanding partnerships were equally nurtured. PRM reaffirmed its collaboration with the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL) through a courtesy visit on April 3, 2025. Earlier in the year, on January 30, PRM and IPOPHL also discussed intellectual property concerns surrounding the election season. PRM further participated in IPOPHL’s National Intellectual Property Month celebration on April 11 and joined a series of IPOPHL seminars from July to August to deepen institutional knowledge on IP protection.
PRM, IPOPHL, and OPM also played key roles in the celebration of Linggo ng Musikang Pilipino, which featured online and in-person music talks led by representatives from all three organizations.
International collaboration continued with IFPI, beyond the Philippine Charts Launch. PRM also co-hosted visits from Asian Music Licensing Companies (MLCs), facilitating discussions on best practices and challenges faced by Collective Management Organizations (CMOs) across the region. Visiting MLC representatives later engaged in knowledge-sharing sessions at the PRM office.
On the artist front, notable signings for royalty collections included TJ Monterde and Ace Banzuelo, among others. Monterde was also honored during the Philippine Charts Launch, earning Local Song of the Year for “Palagi” and placing 7th Local Artist of the Year.
PRM expanded its reach to new roadshow participants such as GMA’s AltG Records, SoundExchange, The Orchard, and Underdog Music, while also opening licensing discussions with new industry partners—including five-star hotel Okada Manila—to support royalty collection across diverse sectors.
MUSIC
Beyond boardrooms and meetings, PRM spent 2025 doing what it loves most: showing up for Filipino music.
The team was invited to numerous launches, gigs, and concerts, including Polyeast’s SUYEN for her debut EP Suyen Imnida; Party Pace for their album MoreHawks; Sony Music mainstay Ben&Ben for Traveller Across Dimensions; Warner Music Philippines’ Lola Amour for Love on Loop; and rising OPM artist Dionela for The Grace Tour.
PRM also joined the final leg of We Play Here, Warner Philippines’ multi-show concert series, and participated as both audience and partner in the Philpop x Himig Handog Songwriting Festival and the 38th Awit Awards.
PRMemories
2025 was a year of growth, momentum, and renewed purpose for PRM.
As the organization looks ahead, it remains committed to supporting the music industry—locally and beyond—by ensuring that creators receive the credit, recognition, and compensation they deserve.
